Q&A

The FAQ

Here are some of the common questions we’ve been asked about boudoir photography and our parties.

Yes. You. Really.

Absolutely! Our goal is always for the guest, at the end of her session, to have the biggest grin on her face and yell “That was great! When can I do it again?”

Our parties make great bachelorette parties, too (and divorce parties)!

You mean besides having a ton of fun and being the envy of all your friends? How about this? Book a party and get just four of your BFFs to attend, we’ll waive your session fee! You can even book a double session ($180 value) and we’ll waive it. Just for setting up the party and getting the minimum number of guests!

What, you want more? Okay, let’s make it even more interesting for you: if you can bring the maximum number of gals (you + 9 others for a total of 10) not only will we waive your session fee, but we’ll give you your 6×6 album for free! That’s another $165 value on top of the $180 session fee we’ve already waived.

Clothing, yes. Makeup… depends. You can have you hair and/or makeup done professionally at the studio by our exceptionally talented makeup artist for a small fee. Otherwise, you need to arrive at the studio “camera ready” with your hair and make up done. Please know that under studio lights, normal application of makeup will appear washed-out in the final images.

We really recommend using our makeup artist’s service but, if you choose not to, there are some great online resources for how to apply makeup for a photo shoot.

The entire shoot is based on your own comfort level and the favorite phrase we use is “as bare as your dare.” We talk with each of our guests before the party to help them decide what to wear and what to bring. We also have a list of resources for buying clothes and lingerie.

Between our makeup artist and our experience, you’ll never have looked sexier – even if you wear cords and a turtle-neck!

We sure do! when people appear stiff, it’s usually because they are nervous; after all, you’ve never done this before! But these shoots are a lot of fun and you’ll be grinning and laughing in just a few minutes.

We have an extensive background in working with people with all levels of experience. First time in front of a lens? You’ll receive lots and lots of supportive coaching and assistance.

Actually, your body isn’t perfect. Neither are the bodies of your next door neighbor, the people at the gym, the models in magazines, computer geeks, and so on. You’ve heard the axiom “nobody is perfect”, right? Well, it also holds true that “no body is perfect” either. Boudoir photography isn’t about moulding people into some unattainable form of perfection. It’s about celebrating and capturing the inner beauty and strength of who you are.

Remember, beauty is not defined by a dress size.

All of our photo shoots take place in the studio. If you have a unique or large home and would like to host a party in the comfort of your own residence, we are more than happy to arrange that for a small up-charge.

The minimum age is 18 and there is no maximum age limit. You will be asked to show ID when you arrive.

Yes they are. Prints are produced on a calibrated printer using archival, acid-free paper and pigment-based inks. When properly framed and hung out of direct sunlight, the print will last over 100 years. We can even frame the prints for you, too.

Certainly, but not at a party. For something more intimate, please contact us about a private session.

Once you, or your party hostess, books a party, we will set up a registration page that allows you to pay your session fee by PayPal. If you are not comfortable using PayPal (many people are not), we are more than happy to take your credit card over the phone (we do not use PayPal as our regular credit card processor) or give you an address where you can mail the check.

Payment for any products (albums, prints, etc.) is due at the party when you and your photographer review your photographs. The party hostess will receive a price list well in advance of the party so that you know what items are available and the price.

In these digital days, people are concerned about where their images may appear. Windy City Boudoir, Rob Domaschuk Photography, and Digital Arts & Photography all strictly adhere to the Illinois Right to Privacy Act and will not, under any circumstance, publicly display any image of you, online or in print, without your explicit, written consent.

Due to the intimate nature of these sessions, we’re hesitant to mention the discount but enough people have asked so here it is: remember the part about privacy and that we can’t show your images unless you give us your written consent? If you sign a limited model release that allows us to use images from your shoot to advertise our parties, then we will give you a 10% discount on your package and any additional products you purchase from your shoot.

This is entirely optional and we can customize the terms for you (no use of your name or nickname, can’t show your face, etc.)
